About Lazuli Roi Farouk
Built in 2001 as the first vessel of the Lazuli fleet, Roi Farouk is a 35.5-metre wooden dahabieh with Old-English interiors, five cabins and a balcony suite for a maximum of ten guests. She sails the quiet reach between Esna, Luxor and Aswan, drifting with the wind and mooring against islands and riverbanks that the motor-cruisers pass by.
Onboard life centres on a salon-library stocked with games and a main dining table set on the open deck, where the chef's traditional Egyptian cooking is served under the stars. Each cabin has its own bathroom, air conditioning and a safe, solar energy runs the water and electricity, and a tow boat lends a hand when the wind drops.
Programmes run three to five nights in either direction, calling at El Kaab, Edfu, Gebel el-Silsila and Kom Ombo before reaching Aswan and Philae, with a private guide for the temples along the way.
