This budget-friendly, self-guided day tour from Sahl Hasheesh takes you to two of Upper Egypt’s most important temple sites: Dendera and Abydos. You’ll travel with a driver who will wait while you explore each complex and who will advise on timings so you make the most of your day. General entry tickets to both temples are included. At Dendera you’ll visit the Temple of Hathor, the largest and most impressive building in the religious complex. Its grand entrance, detailed carvings and hieroglyphs draw the eye, and the beautifully decorated ceilings are a particular highlight — look upwards as you move through the temple. At Abydos you’ll see the Temple of Seti, built by Seti I together with his son Rameses II. Seti I ruled in the Nineteenth Dynasty (1290–1279 BCE) and had a notable impact on ancient Egypt: he opened mines, rebuilt damaged temples and continued construction on the hypostyle hall of Karnak. Along the way you’ll have time to take in the architecture and reliefs at your own pace, with the driver available to help with timing between sites.
