Overview

Sha'ab El Erg, better known as Dolphin House, is a horseshoe of reef north of Hurghada where a resident pod of wild spinner dolphins comes to rest and play in the sheltered lagoon. This full-day cruise sets out from the marina by boat, threading out to the reef where — with luck and calm behaviour from the water — you may snorkel near the dolphins as they cruise the shallows. The day includes two snorkelling stops over living coral gardens thick with butterflyfish, parrotfish and the occasional turtle, with gear provided and crew watching over swimmers of every level. Between stops you relax on deck under the Red Sea sun, with a buffet lunch served on board and time to swim from the boat. The dolphins here are wild and never fed or chased, so sightings are a matter of nature rather than guarantee, but the reef itself is reliably beautiful and the water some of the clearest on the coast.
