When the Sinai heat softens into evening, this is the desert at its most atmospheric — a Bedouin camp behind the mountains, a fire, and a sky with no city glow to dim it. A jeep collects you from your hotel and runs inland to a heritage camp well away from the resort strip, where the programme unfolds at an easy pace. There's a camel ride across the sand while the light turns gold, sweet Bedouin tea poured from a blackened pot, and a grilled dinner served on low cushions under an open-sided tent. As night falls a folklore show — tanoura spinning, drums, sometimes a fire dance — plays out against the dunes, and telescopes are set up for a guided look at the moon, planets and constellations in some of Egypt's clearest desert air. It's a relaxed half-day out rather than an adrenaline run, suited to families and couples alike, with transfers from Sharm and Naama Bay hotels included both ways. Bring a light layer — the desert cools quickly once the sun is gone.
