Overview

A local expert tour guide will pick you up from your Luxor hotel, Nile cruise, train station or the airport and drive you across to the west bank of Luxor to visit the Valley of the Kings. As you move through the area, you’ll explore the burial grounds used by pharaohs of the New Kingdom. The trip also includes a visit to the Valley of the Queens, known as Ta-Set-Neferu, “the place of beauty”, a necropolis that contains about 90 tombs belonging to queens and princes from the New Kingdom (1550–1070 BC). Whilst here, you can visit the tomb of Queen Nefertari (extra ticket payable on the spot). You’ll then proceed to the two Colossi of Memnon, the imposing twin statues that depict Amenhotep III seated with his hands on his knees and his gaze facing east towards the Nile. Two smaller figures carved on the front of the throne represent his wife Tiy and his mother Mutemwiya. After visiting the monuments, you’ll enjoy lunch in a Nile-view restaurant before being transferred back to your original pick-up point.
