Overview

You will spend the evening at the Philae Temple Sound and Light Show, a narrated journey that explores the legends of Goddess Isis and God Osiris. The temple is illuminated by a multimedia light presentation that vividly reveals its form and majesty. As you move through the site, the narration will guide you through the stories and symbolism carved into the ancient stone. The show also places the temple in its historical context. Historically, the site of Philae was flooded for six months each year. An extensive restoration programme in the 1960s moved the temple, stone by stone, to its current location. Along the way, the lights and narration will highlight these events and bring the temple’s past to life, helping you appreciate both its myths and the effort taken to preserve it.
