Parasailing over the Bay — Sharm El Sheikh

See Sharm El Sheikh the way the gulls do - from a parachute drifting high above the bay. After hotel pickup you head to the jetty and board a speedboat that runs out into the calm, sheltered water off Naama Bay. Harnessed into a tandem parasail, you lift gently off the boat's platform and rise on the towline until the coastline falls away beneath you: the curve of the bay, the resort strip along the shore, the desert mountains behind and the reef showing as dark patches through the clear turquoise water. The flight is smooth and surprisingly serene rather than white-knuckle - no experience or swimming skill is needed, and you can fly solo or in a pair. The boat ride out and back adds to the fun, with spray and speed at sea level to bookend the calm of the flight. Crew handle the harness, the launch and the landing, and can dip your toes in the water on the way down if you like. The whole outing takes about two hours door to door, with the flight itself lasting several minutes aloft. Hotel pickup and drop-off, the boat, the parasail and a life jacket are all included; bring sunglasses with a strap and a waterproof camera.
