The Egyptologist, Waleed, is the real deal. He has participated in actual archaeological digs and knows his stuff. He is professional, polite and passionate. He never asked for any tips or pressured me to buy anything. I highly recommend him. The Valley of the Kings was impressive. However, the tour guide does not go down with you into the tomb. Instead there are tomb ‘guards’ who oftentimes will try to get you to pay them for pictures. Some are genuinely helpful and will take a couple of pictures for a dollar. Our tour guide, Mansuor Hamed, was excellent. He really brought to life the history and significance of the wonderful historical sites on the West Bank of Luxor. The air conditioned car was always on hand to pick us up and transport us to our next location. His services are highly recommended.

He was very knowledgeable about Egyptian mythology and very kind and gentlemanly. He taught us many things before we visited each site, and then we had free time to explore at our leisure, which suited our style of sightseeing very well.
