Poland is one of Egypt's biggest leisure source markets, and it shows in the flight map. Alongside LOT's scheduled Warsaw-Cairo service, the Red Sea is fed by heavy charter and low-cost flying, including a major new Wizz Air programme from four Polish cities. Combine that with some of Europe's cheapest all-inclusive package prices from Itaka, TUI Poland and Coral Travel, and Egypt is the default winter-sun escape for Polish travellers. Here is how the flights, visas, packages and timing work, and what to sort before you go.
Flights from Poland
Poland is a large charter market. Beyond LOT's scheduled Warsaw-Cairo link, most traffic goes to Red Sea resorts, primarily Hurghada (HRG), Marsa Alam (RMF) and Sharm El Sheikh (SSH), on charter and low-cost carriers. The big story is Wizz Air's new Poland-Red Sea programme announced in mid-2026: a total of 27 weekly flights, split as 11 to Marsa Alam, 9 to Hurghada and 7 to Sharm El Sheikh. Departures run from Warsaw-Modlin (from 26 October 2026, 3x weekly), Gdansk, Krakow and Katowice, with frequencies stepping up from 26 October for the winter-sun season.
Wizz return fares from the four Polish cities have been promoted from about 132 euro round-trip, though that base fare includes only a small personal item with baggage extra. Aggregator returns Warsaw-Hurghada have appeared from around 82 USD on low-cost itineraries. Flight time Poland to the Red Sea is roughly 4h to 4h30 depending on origin. For Cairo-focused cultural and Nile trips, use LOT or connecting carriers. Verify all fares and schedules at booking.
Visa for Polish travellers
Polish citizens are not visa-exempt but, as EU nationals, qualify for both the e-visa and visa-on-arrival. Apply only through the official portal, visa2egypt.gov.eg, and avoid unofficial sites charging three to five times the fee. After the 27 April 2026 increase, the single-entry tourist e-visa is reported at 30 USD (65 USD multiple-entry); some sources still list the older 25/60 figures, so confirm on the portal. Single-entry is valid about three months from approval for a stay of up to 30 days.
From 1 August 2026, Cairo Airport launched a digital visa-on-arrival for around 46 eligible nationalities including EU citizens: a QR code generated before departure, in flight or on arrival, total cost 36 USD (30 fee plus 6 issuance), with the QR expiring 48 hours after generation. Important for beach travellers: most Poles fly into Hurghada, Marsa Alam or Sharm, where the paper visa-on-arrival sticker or the e-visa applies; the Cairo QR pilot does not yet cover Red Sea airports. Polish operators often arrange or advise on the visa, so check whether the fee is included in your package.
Packages and prices
Poland's outbound Egypt market is package-dominated, led by Itaka, TUI Poland and Coral Travel, plus the wakacje.pl aggregator. The dominant product is a 7- or 14-night all-inclusive Red Sea beach resort in Hurghada, Makadi Bay, Marsa Alam or Sharm El Sheikh; Coral Travel also runs 10-day options and flies from four Polish airports. Indicative pricing, to verify directly, includes TUI Egypt from around 2,165 PLN (all-inclusive options quoted from about 1,513 PLN) and Itaka all-inclusive from roughly 2,999-3,449 PLN. Prices are highly seasonal and promo-driven, with October-to-December winter-sun and last-minute deals the common price points. Cultural and Nile-cruise products exist but are secondary to beach all-inclusive for the Polish mass market.
If you want to add a Nile cruise to a beach week, our Nile cruise guide covers routes, ship standards and what a good itinerary should include.
Best time to go
Winter-sun is the core Polish season: the Red Sea is mild and sunny in December-February at around 20-23C, and charter and low-cost frequencies step up from late October. Spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) give the best overall balance of warm-but-comfortable air and warm sea. July-August is very hot at 35-40C but remains a major summer-holiday charter period. Sea temperature runs from about 22C in February to 28-29C in August. The staggered winter break, ferie zimowe, across January-February is a notable Red Sea peak.
Money and health
Egypt is cash-heavy: cards work at resorts and for tours, but you need Egyptian pounds for souks, taxis, street food and tipping. Even all-inclusive guests need cash for tips and off-resort excursions. ATMs give near-interbank rates but cap withdrawals around 5,000-10,000 EGP a day. No vaccines are legally required, though Hepatitis A and Typhoid are commonly recommended; arrange them four to six weeks ahead and check Polish MSZ travel advice before booking.
