Overview
When your cruise ship is in Alexandria port, you will meet your guide and travel south through the Nile Valley to Cairo in a private, air-conditioned minivan. Along the way, you will enjoy the scenery and hear snippets about Cairo’s history and the Giza Pyramids as you approach the Giza Plateau. At Giza you will see the exteriors of the UNESCO-listed main pyramids — Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus — and hear about the secrets of these ancient tombs and how and why they were built. You will descend to the feet of the Great Sphinx to learn about the human-headed lion and take photos, then stroll around the nearby Valley Temple, which is believed to have been part of the funerary and mummification complex for Chephren’s pyramid. Lunch is included at a local restaurant between visits. The tour will continue to Sakkara and Memphis City before you are transferred back to your port in Alexandria.
