Overview

You will explore the ancient history of Egypt through visits to some of its best-known pyramid sites in the land of the pharaohs. At Saqqara you will see and walk among the pyramids and visit the Nobles’ mastabas. You will enter some of these tombs to view ancient Egyptian inscriptions and scenes that represent daily life in antiquity. Along the way you will pause for a good quality lunch near the pyramids. Later you will travel to the Dahshour pyramids, where you will go inside to see a mummy chamber. The experience concludes with a visit to the museum of the ancient city of Memphis, the first capital of unified Egypt, where you will see artefacts that relate to the sites you have visited. Throughout the tour you will learn more about the architecture, burial practices and everyday scenes of ancient Egyptian civilisation as you move between these key archaeological landmarks.
