We just returned from the Grand Egyptian Museum, King Tut, Khufu Boat, and Egyptian Lunch tour with Aly. It provided a good introduction to this impressive facility, and the guide used the travel time to the museum to present helpful background information and perspective. He also provided interesting insights about selected exhibits in the museum. We chose this tour in the hopes the advertised 4-to-5-hour duration would provide more time at the museum than others on offer but we frequently felt rushed, especially during the King Tut exhibit portion. If you’re wondering whether you should get a tour guide to remote locations, such as Memphis, Saqqar, Dahshur; the answer is absolutely yes! We had used Egypt in Tours for a previous tour and as the tour guide was really good, we requested a driver and car for an afternoon out in Cairo to visit Coptic Cairo churchs and the Citadel. We had 2 cars as we were a family of 6 and the contact was the driver Ahmed. Cars arrived at the hotel at the agreed time and we made our way to the Citadel. Mervat and the other driver waited in the car park and we took our time exploring. After this we were taken to Cave Church. Here, there was an option to take a guide, we wanted to look around ourselves so Ahmed accompanied instead. His English was n
