Gayer-Anderson Museum, arts tour and local lunch
A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.

Overview
You will begin at the Gayer-Anderson Museum in Cairo, set next to the Mosque of Ahmad ibn Tulun in the Sayyida Zeinab neighbourhood. The house takes its name from Major R.G. Gayer‑Anderson Pasha, who lived there between 1935 and 1942 with special permission from the Egyptian Government. The building is one of the best‑preserved examples of 17th‑century domestic architecture remaining in Cairo and contains a vast collection of furniture, carpets, curios and other objects that reflect its historic interior. After visiting the museum, you will continue on a full‑day tour that focuses on old Egyptian artefacts from the beginning of history. Along the way you will see a wide range of ancient items that illustrate Egypt’s long cultural past. The day ends with a meal of Egyptian cuisine at a nearby restaurant, after which you will be taken back to your hotel to finish the tour.
