Day Trip to Luxor from Hurghada

I had been to Luxor several times before and each time been amazed and captivated by the history. Having a week in Hurghada made me think that it would be great to go back and see Luxor again. I did not really want the 4.00-5.00 hotel pick up of a regular excursion, so I decided to book a private tour. Driver picked me up on time at 7.00 and I was surprised that he was Luxor based so had left home at 02.00! He was very friendly and offered me drinks. It was a perfect day visit to the valley of Queens. Our guide was very nice and knowledgeable. He was able to tell a good story so that the time flew by. We thoroughly enjoyed this trip and would recommend it anytime It was nice to be able to visit it with a personal tour as it was not as stressful and at our place. This trip was amazing! My husband and I booked this trip for our honeymoon and it was the best idea ever! A personal driver picked us up from our hotel in Hurghada and drove us to Luxor. We went to Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut, Collosi of Memnon, and the Temple of Karnak during our tour. What really made the trip fantastic was our tour guide Barre (“Barry”). He was EXTREMELY knowledgeable about each of the sites and tailored the tour to exactly what we wanted, providing us with as much or as little commentary and history as we wanted. Our stops, in chronological sequence were: 1) Valley of the Kings; 2) the workers’ tombs (we actually didn’t stop there but took photos as we drove slowly by); 3) Luxfour alabaster factory; 4) Queen Hatshepsut Temple; 5) the Colossi of Memnon; 6) Africa Restaurant for lunch; 7) short boat ride across Nile to the other side; 8) short stop outside Temple of Luxor (we didn’t go inside); and 8) Temple of Karnak. Roshdy did a great job picking us up,getting us to the Valley of the Kings and over to Luxor. He had a lot of knowledge to share with our small group. The value of this tour was terrific.

I highly recommend taking a trip into Luxor if your cruise ship stops in Safaga. Though it is a long day (due to the distance), it is well worth it. This tour was very complete; we visited the highlights of Luxor. Our tour guide, Roshdy, kept us on schedule so that we were able to get to all of the listed sites. And, a fabulous lunch was included as well!
