Your private tour guide and driver will collect you from your hotel and take you first to the Step Pyramid of Zoser — the world’s oldest major stone structure, built in the 3rd Dynasty for King Djoser. Along the way you will learn about its historic role and architectural significance. After exploring the site, you will have lunch at a local restaurant. You will then travel to Memphis, the first capital of Egypt founded by King Menes. There you will see the Statue of Ramses II and the Alabaster Sphinx of Memphis as you learn about the city’s importance as a centre of rule and culture during the Old Kingdom and for over 3,000 years. The tour continues to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo as part of a city tour. The museum displays artefacts from the Pharaonic period and a rare collection spanning some 5,000 years of art, considered one of the largest and most precious collections of Egyptian art in the world. Over 250,000 artefacts are presented, including gold and jewellery that were enclosed in his tomb for over 3,500 years.
