Our Alexandria day tour was a gorgeous and chaotic and maybe sometimes uncomfortable anthropology lesson wrapped in ancient history. Honestly, our tour guide deserves a Nobel Peace Prize for navigating it with a smile. The sites themselves were stunning. We visited palaces, catacombs, churches, and the literal footprint of an ancient wonder, the former spot Alexandria Lighthouse, now down in the sea. The real wonder for me was how many micro-transactions one city can throw at you in a single day. Let’s be clear, the guide cannot control the tipping culture. But it’s over the top. We went from
