We went as a group of four friends celebrating one of us finishing medical school. We werent sure about the sleeper train but it turned out to be such a cool experience. We played cards until 2am and woke up in Luxor. That morning we saw the sun rise over the east bank and I swear we all got emotional. The cruise was our favorite part. We spent hours on the sun deck just talking and laughing. The staff on the ship remembered our drink orders after day one. That kind of service makes you feel like a king. We also loved the GEM it is massive and so modern. The guide explained everything in a way
I brought my nephew who is 15. He lost his father last year and I wanted to give him something positive. This trip was that. He was quiet at first. Distant. By day three he was asking questions and taking photos. The guide was kind to him. Did not push. Just included him naturally. On the cruise he made friends with a boy from Spain. They played chess every evening. In Hurghada he swam in the sea and smiled. Really smiled. That is all I wanted. The pyramids were amazing. But seeing him happy was the real highlight.
We are a couple in our 60s. We have been to over 50 countries. Egypt was near the top of our list. This tour delivered. The sleeper train was nostalgic. The cruise was relaxing. The guide was among the best we ever had. Not just his knowledge but his timing. He knew when to talk and when to let us look. He knew when to push through a crowd and when to wait five minutes for it to clear. The GEM is spectacular. We spent hours there. Hurghada was a peaceful end. We swam every day. This is how travel should be done.
We are a blended family with kids from previous marriages. This was our first international trip together. High stakes. It went better than I hoped. The kids bonded over snorkeling. The adults bonded over temple awe. The guide kept things moving so there was no time for bickering. The cruise gave us shared space but also privacy in our cabins. Hurghada was the ultimate team builder. We played volleyball on the beach. We laughed a lot. This trip cemented us as a family. I am proud of us.
I travel for food. I research restaurants before museums. I was pleasantly surprised by the food on this trip. The cruise had themed nights. Egyptian Italian Asian. All good. The guide took us to a local koshary spot in Cairo. Best 2 dollars I ever spent. In Aswan we had fresh grilled Nile fish. In Hurghada the resort buffet was massive. Seafood every night. I also tried tamr hindi for the first time. Tamarind juice. So refreshing. The pyramids were impressive. But I mostly remember the tastes.
I brought my dad on this trip for his 70th birthday. He always wanted to see the pyramids. The moment we walked up to the Giza Plateau he stopped and just stood there quiet for a full minute. I had to hold back tears. Our tour guide noticed and gave us space. That kind of respect means a lot. The cruise was smooth and comfortable. My dad has knee issues but the staff helped him every time we got on and off the ship. We took the optional domestic flight instead of the train which was worth the extra money for him. In Hurghada we just sat by the pool and talked for hours. This was more than a va
