From there you can choose from a range of day trips that take you to Egypt’s most famous ancient and modern landmarks. On the Giza, Memphis and Sakkara day trip, you will see the Pyramids and the Great Sphinx, and visit the Valley Temple beside the pyramids. In Sakkara you will visit the Step Pyramid of Zoser, home of Egypt’s oldest pyramid. The tour also includes Memphis, the ancient capital, where you will see the great statue of Ramses II and the alabaster Sphinx of Memphis. Another option starts at the Egyptian Museum, which houses more than 250,000 pieces. You will then visit the Citadel of Salah El Din and the Mohamed Ali Alabaster Mosque. A separate Alexandria day tour from Cairo takes you to the library of Alexandria, the Roman Amphitheatre with its display of sunken monuments, the Abbo Elabbas Mosque (the city’s biggest mosque) and the gardens of Montaza. Along the way you will learn about the history and significance of each site as your guide explains their stories.
