Must do tour while you’re in Egypt! Book a tour to see the pyramids instead of just seeing them on your own. Mido was great and informative in explaining ancient Egyptian culture and making connections to the middle and new kingdoms as well. He was very responsive to all questions and flexible as well. His English was very easy to understand. The driver was great too (unfortunately, we don’t remember his name), but he was very friendly and always made sure we were very comfortable. This is the best way to make use of time, learn history and see both the Giza and Saqqara complexes!

My guide Mimo was great! We started with Saqqara and explored a number of beautiful tombs there. Then we took a look at the famous Step Pyramid as he explained to me the history behind it. He also told me about the Red Pyramid, the first pyramid completed with the traditional shape now associated with the Giza Pyramids. We then stopped past Memphis before heading to Giza to see the world-famous Great Pyramid of Khufu along with the other two pyramids onsite of Khafre and Menkaure.
