Your guide, an Egyptologist, will pick you up from your hotel and explain the tour itinerary and what is included. Along the way they will talk about ancient Egyptian history and the ideas behind the Grand Egyptian Museum before you begin your visit. The museum blends modernity and ancient history; your guide will point out the symbolic motifs on the gate, the obelisk inside, the sweeping great hall and the staircase. As you move through these spaces they will explain the symbolism of each part and how some pieces reflect the relationship between ancient religion, monarchy and eternity. Inside the museum you will see exhibits across its 12 halls, which hold more than 25,000 artefacts covering the span of ancient Egyptian history. You will have time to explore on your own if you wish. The tour also includes a local lunch to give you a taste of Egyptian cuisine, and there will be time to learn about traditional Egyptian products and souvenirs if you are interested. The experience finishes with a return drop-off at your hotel.

I would like to express our disappointment regarding the guide and the program provided during our visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum. The guide’s command of the language was not good, which made it difficult to understand the explanations and follow the stories and information being presented. In addition, we felt that there was a lack of proper introduction and historical context about what we were going to see. Our main complaint is related to the visit to Tutankhamun’s treasures.
