If you have a few free hours in Cairo, this short tour will take you to two important, less-trodden sites: Dahshour and Memphis. The experience focuses on places that are often not included in classical tours. You will visit Memphis, known as the first and oldest capital of ancient united Egypt, and explore its historical setting. After Memphis, you will travel to Dahshour, the site where the first true pyramids were built. At Dahshour you will see the Red Pyramid and the Bent Pyramid, notable examples of early pyramid construction. Along the way you’ll encounter quieter, more intimate ancient sites than those on standard itineraries, giving you a different perspective on Egypt’s early royal architecture.
