On this two-day Luxor tour from Cairo, you will explore some of Egypt’s most impressive ancient sites on the east and west banks of the Nile. In Luxor you will wander among the great stone columns and reliefs at the Karnak and Luxor Temples. Along the way you will see the Colossi of Memnon and take in the scale and detail of these monumental statues. On the west bank you will visit the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple, where you can learn about the royal tombs and funerary architecture that shaped ancient Egyptian beliefs. The programme also includes a relaxing sail on a traditional Nile felucca, giving you a different perspective of the river and the surrounding landscape, before you fly back to Cairo.

We booked the Luxor 2 day overnight tour with Ancient Egypt Tours through Viator. I was very excited for this tour and was hopeful for this trip. However, I was informed the day before the trip that we would be picked up at 11:30am instead of 4:30am, to "avoid the heat", which I thought was strange because the mornings are usually cooler than the afternoons. We were picked up by our guide who had introduced himself via text as Mohammed Ali but when the car came, his name was suddenly Akmed. We drove to the Karnak temple and luckily had brought the waters with us from the flight, because it was
