You will start with the Egyptian Museum, where you can admire artifacts from Ancient Egypt. As you move through the galleries, you will see items that reflect the civilisation’s history and material culture. Next you will visit the Salah El Din Citadel, constructed in 1183 AD, and the Mohamed Ali Mosque, which was built inside the castle in the 19th century. Along the way you will experience the castle’s historic setting and see the mosque’s architecture within the citadel grounds. The tour continues in Old Cairo, the site of a city that pre-dated Cairo. There you will explore an area known for many historic churches and a Roman fort, giving a sense of the layers of history in the neighbourhood. Throughout, you will move between major landmarks that highlight Egypt’s ancient and medieval past.
