You will be picked up from your hotel in Cairo for a day trip to El Fayoum, a journey of about 95 km. All visits take place in Wadi El Rayan, a natural depression in the western desert that was designated a Protected Area in 1989. Along the way you will stop at Mudawara Mountain before continuing to the Wadi Al Rayan Water Falls. Wadi El Rayan comprises two lakes connected by Egypt’s only waterfalls. These lakes were formed in 1970 by an overflow of drainage water from the farmlands in Fayoum, creating striking desert-oasis scenery. You will have time to see the falls and the surrounding landscape, and later a late lunch will be served at a good quality restaurant. After lunch you will be transferred back to Cairo.

I thought I had just booked a day trip to see an oasis and a waterfall. What I actually got was so so much more! Abdalla picked us up from our hotel and drove us out to Fayoum where we met up with Ali, who took over the driving duties in his 4-wheel drive. He drove us out into the desert and up sand dunes and it was so fun and just a liiiiiiittle bit thrilling! Abdalla made the experience so fun, taking lots of photos for us and planning multiple stops for experiences, vistas, and photos along the way, including sand boarding, a mountain, and Magic Lake.
