This excursion will take you to Bahariya Oasis in the Western Desert and then out into the surrounding sands to visit the Black and White Deserts. Along the way you will travel from the oasis into vast, open desert landscapes and encounter the contrasting volcanic and chalk terrains that give these regions their names. The White Desert is dominated by huge, rare chalk formations that look like giant, sculpted figures carved by nature. You will see rocks that take the shapes of a bird, an animal, a sphinx-like statue, a human form and a tree, as well as formations that create a canopy under which passers-by lie. The sculpted rocks and the wide, empty spaces around them offer striking views and a chance to explore unusual natural shapes in the desert.
