You will explore the highlights of Aswan with an Egyptologist guide who will lead you to the High Dam that created Lake Nasser. Along the way, you will visit the Unfinished Obelisk to see how ancient Egyptians cut these huge stone pillars, and you will explore Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis. An Abu Simbel trip will give you the chance to visit the two temples of Abu Simbel, notable for their distinctive style and regarded as masterpieces of ancient Egypt. You will learn about their scale and sculptural detail as you view the façades and interiors. You will also have access to tours and activities in Luxor, often called the World's Largest Outdoor Museum, where countless adventures await. Ahead of this trip, we did add another night in Luxor due to flight times. We also opted for 5-star hotels vs. 3-star. Total for both changes was less than 200 in addition to the Viator booking. We finished the Giza tours the day before so we were ready to venture to the Southern cities AKA, Upper Egypt. For this tour, our driver picked us up at 4:30 AM to make a 7 AM flight from Cairo to Aswan. They were on time and even walked us to the ticket counter. This was my first trip to Egypt and did not know what to expect from going so far from my home base in Cairo. I was amazingly astonished at how well put together this adventure turned out to be. The date booked for Abu Simbel was on the February 22nd special sunrise that happens two times per year. We toured Aswan, then at midnight the same night, My guide, Sayed made special arrangements so that we could be at ABU for the Sunrise.
