Egypt Tours from the Czech Republic

For Czech travellers, Egypt is one of the most reliable winter-sun options going. Home carrier Smartwings anchors the market, flying Prague, Brno and Ostrava to the Red Sea for the country's big tour operators, so a week of all-inclusive beach in Hurghada or Marsa Alam is a short, direct hop away. This guide covers flights, visas, prices, timing and how to turn a resort holiday into something more with a few days on the Nile.

Getting there: flights and charters

Smartwings operates both scheduled and charter service from Czech airports to Egypt's Red Sea resorts under the 2025–2026 winter schedule, serving Hurghada (HRG) and Marsa Alam (RMF). Prague (PRG) carries scheduled plus charter flights, while charter lift for travel agencies also departs Brno (BRQ) and Ostrava (OSR), with Taba (TCP) added as a charter destination alongside Hurghada and Marsa Alam. Smartwings also runs a scheduled Prague–Cairo (CAI) service. Sharm El-Sheikh is typically reached by charter or connection rather than a headline scheduled route, so check current-season availability.

On price, Prague–Marsa Alam scheduled fares have been advertised from around EUR 122 one-way direct, though charter seats are usually sold inside packages rather than as standalone tickets. Flight time from Prague to Hurghada or Marsa Alam is roughly 4.5 to 5 hours. Because charter programs shift each season, confirm the exact route and airport before you commit.

Visas: e-Visa, VOA and the Sinai permit

Czech citizens are not visa-exempt. You can use the Egypt e-Visa, applied for online in advance, or a Visa on Arrival. The e-Visa allows one entry and up to a 30-day stay, is valid 90 days from issue (a multiple-entry version runs 180 days) and is typically processed within about four working days. The Visa on Arrival is a single-entry 30-day tourist visa, with the standard rate around USD 25 (verify, as the exact figure was not confirmed in Czech-specific sources). Your passport should be valid at least six months beyond arrival, and you should apply only through the official portal at visa2egypt.gov.eg.

From 1 August 2026, Cairo airport began piloting a QR-code digital Visa on Arrival costing USD 36 total (a USD 30 fee plus USD 6 issuance), generated up to 48 hours before travel and valid at Cairo only; Red Sea airports keep the paper sticker. Roughly 46 countries are eligible, but Czech inclusion is unconfirmed, so verify. One more thing to know: the free South Sinai entry permit (around 15 days) covers only the Sharm, Dahab and Taba resort zones. To reach mainland Egypt, such as Cairo or Luxor, you need a full visa.

Best time to go

The Red Sea resorts are best from October to April, with daytime temperatures around 22–28°C and ideal conditions for both beach and sightseeing. Divers get peak visibility from November to April. Summer (June–August) is hot, near 35°C, but sea breezes and pools keep the coast comfortable, and Czech school-holiday summer charters still run through the season.

What to book, and adding the Nile

The beach is the reason most Czech visitors come, but the trip is easy to deepen. From the resorts you can add day trips to the pyramids, desert excursions or a diving package around Marsa Alam. Money and health

The currency is the Egyptian pound, around 51.8 to the US dollar as of March 2026 (verify the live rate). Bring EUR or USD cash to exchange, as Czech koruna is not readily accepted, though ATMs and card payment are widespread in the resorts. No vaccines are required to enter, but the CDC recommends Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and typhoid for most travellers, and you should drink only bottled or filtered water.
