After a safety briefing and a quick handling lesson, you throttle out across the sand on marked desert tracks, kicking up dust as the Nazlet el-Semman escarpment falls away and the pyramids come into view on the skyline. The ride climbs to a panoramic point where the three pyramids line up against the horizon, unobstructed and framed by nothing but desert — one of the best photo spots in Giza and a completely different perspective from the crowded plateau below. Partway through you pull up at a Bedouin tent for sweet mint tea and a breather, taking in the silence and the scale of the desert. It's an easy, exhilarating outing suitable for first-timers, with a guide leading the group throughout. Book the late-afternoon slot and you ride into the sunset, the sand turning gold and the pyramids glowing as the light drops.
