Traffic was treacherous, but my driver exhibited a calm demeanor and joined in the slugging match. When I realized that driving in this.milieu requires a certain skill set, I sat back, relaxed and enjoyed a new experience. He was very capable, friendly and got me here safely.

I had taken a train to Alexandria before. While the train is fine, the crazy chaos of Ramses train is over-stimulating and overwhelming for me now. I asked my travel agent if there were other alternatives. I was massively jet lagged and overslept missing my noon pickup. I checked into my hotel around 3am. The hotel failed on their 11am wake up call. The company was super great about communicating with me on WhatsApp when I woke up to see the message. Fortunately my driver was also late. Communication was really good for pickup with tour company. We did not get the van from the photograph. Vehicle seemed to be privately owned and did not have tour company logo. It was clean, but older. Be careful the driver does not try to add anything to your bill at the rest stop because he did to us. Rest stop was clean and had good food options. Driver was punctual, played good music, and carried our bags. Uber from the Cairo airport to Alexandria may have been a cheaper and better option for transfer.
