Przegląd
Three ages of ancient Egypt in a single day, in the order they were built. You begin at Saqqara — actually the oldest of the sites — where the Step Pyramid of Djoser rises in six great terraces above the desert. Designed by the architect Imhotep around 2,650 BC, it was the first monumental building in stone anywhere in the world, the prototype for every pyramid that followed. Nearby lie the ruins of Memphis, capital of Egypt for over a thousand years, now an open-air museum scattered with colossal statues of Ramesses II and a great alabaster sphinx. Then you drive to the Giza Plateau and the pyramids everyone comes for: the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the still-capped Pyramid of Khafre and the smaller Menkaure, with the Great Sphinx keeping its ancient watch below. A private Egyptologist travels with you all day, turning heaps of limestone into the story of how — and why — they were raised, and there is time to stop at the panorama point where all three pyramids line up for the classic photograph. Lunch at a local restaurant and air-conditioned hotel transfers are included, so the logistics disappear and you spend the day among 4,500-year-old monuments rather than in traffic or ticket queues.

Exceeded expectations. Small group, great pace, and stunning scenery.
Beautiful experience, though it started a little late. The guide more than made up for it.
