Ancient Luxor with solar eclipse of the century from Marsa Alam

Ayoub reassuringly adds, “Luxor’s desert climate means there’s little chance of pesky clouds spoiling your view of this spectacular celestial event.” Regain your composure over lunch, then cross the Nile by motorboat to reach the west bank. Get some snaps of the imposing Colossi of Memnon – the two sandstone giants who’ve been standing guard over ancient Thebes for millennia. Then head to the Valley of the Kings to see the royal tombs and learn about the history and beliefs of the pharaohs. Your final stop celebrates one of ancient Egypt’s few female rulers, Hatshepsut. Framed by the sheer cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut makes a lasting impression with its symmetrical design and elegant terraces. You can reflect on a day of wow-worthy moments on your return to Marsa Alam.
