Hurghada After Dark (2026): Marina, El Dahar and Sakkala

By TiE Editors17 October 202613 min read

Where to go out in Hurghada at night: Marina bars, Sakkala dinners, the El Dahar souk, the Village Road promenade and the clubs, with venues checked in October 2026.

Quick answer: Go to the Marina and Sakkala for bars and dinner on foot, to El Dahar, the old town, for the souk and a local evening, and to the Village Road side for a late promenade walk. The two clubs people ask about most are Little Buddha (listings disagree on its exact spot, so confirm with your hotel) and Elements, inside the Steigenberger Aqua Magic hotel on Youssif Afifi Road in southern Hurghada.

Time Out reported on 8 October 2026 that Hurghada came second on Skyscanner's list of rising destinations for 2027, with searches up 186 percent. The same piece makes the point this guide is built on: most visitors never leave the resort strip. You don't need a tour to fix that. You need to know which part of town does what after sunset.

This guide is about going out, not where to stay. For daytime trips and islands, see our things to do in Hurghada guide.

Checked 17 October 2026. Distances are our own straight-line calculation from map coordinates, not drive times. The Village Road strip has no single map point we could confirm, so we don't give a figure. No source we trust publishes drive minutes, so allow extra time for traffic and checkpoints.

Hurghada Marina: dinner and drinks on the water

Hurghada Marina basin by day, yachts at the pontoons and the promenade curving round the water

Best for: a first night out, dinner with a view of the boats, and bars you can walk between.

The Marina is the easiest evening in Hurghada. It is a large purpose-built harbour (more than 150,000 square metres, operating since 2008, according to the operator) with a palm-lined boulevard of restaurants, bars and shops around the basin. It gets livelier after sunset, when the music starts and the boulevard fills. Boat and dive operators also run from here, so you will see the day boats tied up for the night.

Come for an early evening walk around sunset, eat between 8 and 10pm, and stay on for drinks. Everything is close together, so you can change your mind on foot. The Marina has no public beach of its own.

Places we could confirm were active in October 2026 (checked on their own Instagram accounts on 17 October 2026):

  • The Moon Restaurant & Bar. Hot-stone steaks, international food, cocktails and wine.
  • Stone Restaurant & Bar. A European and Swiss kitchen that says it has been at the New Marina since 2012.
  • Grill & Chill. An international grill on Marina Boulevard that posts event nights on its Instagram.
  • Blue Beach Club. A beach club on a sandy beach at the marina, with a pool, jacuzzi, restaurant and bar, and activities by day and night.

Prices: none of these venues publishes a dated price list, so we don't quote one. Ask for the menu before you sit down, and check whether service and tax are added.

Sakkala: downtown buzz around the Marina

Best for: a relaxed dinner, late shopping and a mix of Western and Egyptian restaurants.

Sakkala (you will also see Sekalla, Sigala and Saqqala on signs and maps) is the tourist heart of the city. It grew up around the old port, and the Marina's own address is Sakkala Square, so the two run into each other. Egypt's State Information Service (page dated 2022) describes it as lively, with hotels, shops, malls, cinemas, clubs and restaurants that stay open late.

The spine is Sheraton Road, which runs south along the coast for about 4 km. Brand-name shops sit along it and at the Marina, with souvenir shops on the Sakkala high street. For a swim before dinner, the beaches near the Marina and along Sheraton Road charge an entry fee; no beach in town is free, and the only fees we found were from 2022, so ask at the gate.

Venue notes, checked 17 October 2026:

  • La Cantina Restaurant and Bar. On Sakkala Square, Street 1, and active on Instagram in October 2026. We found no hours from the venue itself.
  • Hard Rock Cafe Hurghada. Older guides still send you here, but the cafe's own profile says it is relocating. Only the Rock Shop is open, at Senzo Mall, gate 3.

El Dahar: Hurghada's old town in the evening

Best for: the souk, the fish market and an Egyptian dinner away from the resorts.

El Dahar is the old town and the most traditional quarter of Hurghada, north of Sakkala over a low ridge, about 4 km away. Egypt's State Information Service (page dated 2022) describes it as the place where everyday Egyptian life goes on, with souks, local shops and the fish market, and notes that in the evening you will meet more Egyptians than tourists. That is the reason to go.

Go in the late afternoon and stay into the evening. Walk the bazaar streets, where the choice is wide and prices are lower than in Sakkala, and haggle anywhere except restaurants and pharmacies. Time Out's advice is to swap the hotel buffet for dinner in El Dahar at least once, and we agree. The fish market (listed by Egypt's State Information Service as part of El Dahar, though some pages place it by the fishing harbour near the New Marina) is part of the old-town circuit; we could not confirm its evening hours, so if seeing the market is the point, go before dark.

An honest caveat: El Dahar is about atmosphere and food, not monuments, and it has few tourist facilities. Give yourself time to wander. The UK Foreign Office asks visitors to respect local traditions and customs. Ask before you photograph anyone: Ministry of Tourism rules require an Egyptian citizen's written permission, and photographing children is not allowed.

We could not confirm that any of the fish restaurants listed online for El Dahar is operating in 2026, so we don't name one. Ask at the market which grill is cooking that night.

Village Road: the evening promenade

Best for: a long promenade walk and a late dinner south of the centre.

South of Sheraton Road, past the disused Sheraton hotel, the coast road enters the Village Road resort strip. In the evening, people walk the promenade for traditional cafes, shopping and dinner, with malls, restaurants and a bowling and family entertainment centre nearby. Nightlife here begins late.

Some maps and hotel addresses use the name El Mamsha (El Mamsha El Seyahi, the tourist walkway) for this side of town; we could not confirm from an official source exactly which stretch the name covers. Egypt Independent reported in January 2024 on the final phase of a new 8 km tourist walkway north of Hurghada, but no report we read places that walkway on Village Road.

Clubs and late bars

Venue notes, checked 17 October 2026:

  • Little Buddha. From the Buddha-Bar group, which lists Hurghada as its only Little Buddha. Its own Instagram bio calls it a restaurant, lounge and night club, and it was posting in October 2026. Where exactly: third-party listings disagree, some putting it on Village Road next to the Sindbad Club and others near the Marina. Its own pages give no address, so confirm with your hotel or driver. We found no published hours, entry fee or dress code from the venue itself.
  • Elements Night Club (Elements Club & Lounge). Inside the Steigenberger Aqua Magic hotel, Youssif Afifi Road, southern Hurghada. We could not confirm whether Youssif Afifi Road counts as Village Road. The hotel describes late food, a live DJ, a dance floor and a sports bar, and the club was posting on Instagram in October 2026. The hotel does not say whether non-guests are admitted, so ask before you go.
  • B2 Lounge & Bar. A lounge bar at the Continental Hotel, active on Instagram in October 2026; its profile does not say which part of town the hotel is in.
  • Also named online: Papas Beach Club, Papas Bar, Golden Booda and The Tavern come up in search results and AI answers. We could not confirm from their own accounts or websites that any of them was operating in October 2026, or where each one is now, so check locally before you go.

Prices: we found no dated entry fee or drinks price from these venues, so we don't quote one. Ask the door about entry and the drinks menu, and keep the receipt.

A night out in order

  1. Sunset at the Marina. In mid-October the sun sets at about 6:15pm; in December it is before 5:05pm, and around midsummer it is closer to 7:45pm (sunset times for Hurghada, checked 17 October 2026). Dusk ends about 25 minutes after sunset.
  2. Dinner in Sakkala or El Dahar. Walk the Marina boulevard, then eat in Sakkala, or take a taxi north to El Dahar for the souk and a fish dinner.
  3. Late drinks or a club. Nightlife starts late, so there is no rush. Book or agree your taxi back before you go in.

Submarine trips: the Royal Seascope is sold as a semi-submarine; see Royal Seascope submarine cruise with snorkelling, from EGP 1,119 (about $22, approximate), checked 17 October 2026. A Sindbad tourist submarine sank off Hurghada on 27 March 2025 with the loss of six lives (Dive Magazine and the Associated Press); we could not confirm whether Sindbad trips run in 2026.

Satellite bays after dark

  • El Gouna: a separate resort town with its own evening scene; see our El Gouna guide.
  • Makadi Bay, Sahl Hasheesh and Soma Bay: resort areas outside central Hurghada. For a night out in town, a pre-arranged transfer both ways is usually easier than finding a taxi late at night; agree the full price before you leave.

Safety and getting around at night

Hurghada is not in any area the UK Foreign Office advises against (FCDO travel advice, updated 4 August 2026), and it describes crime in Egypt as generally low. The practical rules for a night out:

  • Taxis: Uber and Careem can be used in Hurghada where available; if no car comes, agree a street taxi's total fare (not per person) before you get in, and don't assume the meter will be used. We found no dated taxi fare from a source we trust, so we don't quote one.
  • The airport run: taxis from the arrivals hall cost more than the short distance suggests, because drivers pay to enter the airport. A ride to the airport from town can cost less.
  • Women and solo travellers: the FCDO advises care in taxis at night, especially alone. Share the driver, trip and live location with a friend. It also notes that most sexual assaults reported to the British Embassy happened in Red Sea resorts, often by someone the victim had met, including hotel and excursion staff.
  • Touts: expect them in tourist areas. A polite "no, thank you" and walking on works.
  • Alcohol: legal only in licensed bars and restaurants, private homes and some resorts. Don't drink on the street or the promenade.
  • Emergencies: the tourist police number is 126.

Let someone else do the driving

If you'd rather see El Dahar and the Marina with a guide and pickup, these tours on our site cover them (lowest listed price, checked 17 October 2026, dollars approximate at 52 EGP):

Common questions

What bars are there at Hurghada Marina?

Places we confirmed active in October 2026 include The Moon Restaurant & Bar (steaks, cocktails, wine), Stone Restaurant & Bar (European and Swiss, at the New Marina since 2012), Grill & Chill on Marina Boulevard and Blue Beach Club, a beach club with a bar on the marina's sandy beach. Venues change often, so walk the boulevard and look at menus before you sit down.

Does Hurghada have good nightlife?

Yes, if you know where to go. The Marina and Sakkala are best for bars and dinner on foot. For clubs, Elements is inside the Steigenberger Aqua Magic hotel on Youssif Afifi Road in southern Hurghada, and Little Buddha is placed on Village Road by some listings and near the Marina by others, so confirm with your hotel. Nightlife starts late, so there is no need to go out early.

What time does it go dark in Hurghada?

It depends on the season. Checked on 17 October 2026, sunset in Hurghada is about 6:15pm in mid-October, before 5:05pm through December and around 7:45pm at midsummer, with dusk ending about 25 minutes after sunset. Plan a Marina sunset walk, then dinner.

Where is Little Buddha in Hurghada?

Third-party listings disagree: some put it on Village Road next to the Sindbad Club, others near the Marina. The venue's own pages give no address, so confirm with your hotel or driver before you set off. It was active on Instagram in October 2026.

Is El Dahar worth visiting in the evening?

Yes, for the atmosphere, the souk and an Egyptian dinner, not for monuments. Egypt's State Information Service notes that in the evening you meet more Egyptians than tourists. Go in the late afternoon if you want to see the fish market, give yourself time to wander, and haggle in the shops.

How much is a pint in Hurghada?

We could not find a dated drinks price from any venue, so we don't quote one. Prices vary a lot between hotel bars, Marina bars and clubs. Ask for the menu first, and check whether service and tax are added.

Is Hurghada safe at night?

Generally, yes. The UK Foreign Office does not advise against travel to Hurghada (advice updated 4 August 2026) and describes crime as generally low. Agree taxi prices before you get in, or use Uber or Careem where available, share your trip if travelling alone, and call the tourist police on 126 if you need to.

Do Uber and Careem work in Hurghada?

Often, where available. Uber and Careem can be used in Hurghada where available; if no car comes, agree a street taxi's total fare before you get in rather than relying on the meter. From the outlying bays late at night, a pre-arranged transfer is usually easier.
