Overview

You will spend New Year’s Eve under the stars in Egypt’s White Desert and Bahariya Oasis, travelling from Cairo to reach these striking landscapes. Along the way you will explore contrasting terrains and sand dunes as you move between the oasis and the desert’s open plains. The journey will take you past mushroom-shaped chalk rocks that rise from the sand and the dramatic Black Mountain with its ash-like summit in the Black Desert. As night falls, you will camp beneath the clear desert sky and celebrate the New Year with a barbecue dinner at your campsite. You will also visit the Crystal Mountain, where glinting formations add a different texture to the region’s scenery. Throughout the experience you will have the chance to walk among unusual rock formations, enjoy wide desert views and relax around a campfire under the stars. The focus is on the landscapes and the night-time celebration set in this remote, geological environment.
