On this tour from Luxor you will visit two important ancient sites on Egypt’s west bank with a private, qualified Egyptologist as your guide. At the Valley of the Nobles you will enter the painted tombs of Menna and Nakht, two 18th‑dynasty aristocrats. As you move through their richly decorated chambers, your guide will explain the scenes and inscriptions that record aspects of their lives, roles and status. You will then go to the Valley of the Artisans, known as Deir el‑Medina. There you will see the crumbled houses where the craftsmen who built the royal tombs once lived and hear about their daily routines and social organisation. Inside the valley temple you will view the distinctive final judgment carvings that reflect ancient Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife. Along the way, the commentary will connect the artisans’ world to the tombs they made and to the aristocrats buried nearby.
