Because far fewer visitors come here, you can take your time with the detail. Nearby lies Deir el-Medina, the remarkably intact village of the very artisans who cut and decorated the royal tombs across the hills; you can walk the stone lanes of their workmen's settlement and visit their own beautifully finished tombs, some of the finest on the West Bank. Crowning the site is the small, well-preserved Ptolemaic Temple of Hathor.
