Shore Excursion: Alexandria City Tour from Alexandria Port
A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.

Overview
Spend a day exploring the highlights of Alexandria as you move between its most famous sights. You’ll visit the New Library of Alexandria, now holding around 8 million books and built on the site of the ancient Lighthouse, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. Along the way you’ll see the Palaces of Farouk, the imposing Pompey’s Pillar and the remains of the ancient library. The route also includes the Roman amphitheatre and an adjacent open-air museum related to sunken finds, giving a sense of the city’s layered history by the sea. You’ll descend into the Catacombs, dating back to the 3rd century, where Greek, Roman and Egyptian artistic influences mix in the tombs and carvings. Lunch is provided at a sea-view restaurant, with a full meal included for each person (beverages are not included). Please note the New Library of Alexandria is closed on Fridays; if your visit falls on that day you’ll still be able to photograph the building from the outside.
