Overview

Beyond the resort strips and dive boats, Sharm El Sheikh has a local life worth an afternoon, and this half-day tour takes you into the town most visitors only pass through. You start at the Al-Sahaba Mosque, the city's landmark house of worship, its pale domes and twin minarets blending Ottoman and Mamluk styles above the Old Market square. Nearby, the Heavenly Cathedral is decorated inside with vivid biblical murals — a striking counterpoint and a reminder of Egypt's layered faiths. The heart of the tour is the Old Market, a warren of stalls selling spices by the scoopful, lanterns, cotton, perfume oils, alabaster and every kind of souvenir; your guide helps you find your way and, if you like, shows you how to haggle over a glass of hibiscus tea. To finish, you climb to the Farsha Café, an extraordinary clifftop lounge built in tumbling terraces of coloured cushions, lanterns, salvaged doors and Bedouin rugs, with sweeping views over the Red Sea — the perfect spot for a mint tea or fresh juice as the light softens. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included. It's a relaxed, low-key half day that trades the beach for the sights, flavours and street life of Sharm itself.
