This journey takes you through seven key sites that reveal the hidden heart of ancient Egypt, far beyond the usual tourist path. You will start at the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the world’s first pyramid attributed to the architect Imhotep. Nearby, the Imhotep Museum displays priceless artefacts and the mummy of King Merenre I, giving context to the monuments you will see. You will descend into the Pyramid of Unas to view the Pyramid Texts, some of the oldest religious inscriptions in Egypt, and step inside the beautifully decorated Tomb of Idut. Along the way, you will visit ancient Memphis, Egypt’s first capital, to connect the monuments with Egypt’s early political and cultural life. The day continues in Dahshur, where the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid illustrate the experimental building techniques that helped shape the later Great Pyramid.
