Overview

This experience guides you through three of Egypt’s most important ancient sites: Dahshur, Memphis and Saqqara. At Dahshur you'll see the striking Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid, Egypt’s first smooth-sided pyramid. There may be a chance to go inside the Red Pyramid so you can get a closer sense of its interior space. In Memphis, Egypt’s first capital, you'll visit the open-air museum to view the colossal statue of Ramses II and the alabaster Sphinx. The visit moves on to Saqqara, where the Step Pyramid of Djoser stands as an early architectural milestone. You will also see the Pyramid of Unas with its ancient writings on the walls, and explore nearby ancient tombs as you learn about the burial customs and monuments of early Egypt.
