Overview

A liveaboard turns diving from a series of day trips into one continuous trip: you eat, sleep and dive from the same boat, waking up already moored over the next reef. This multi-day safari sails the northern Red Sea out of Hurghada, the classic wrecks-and-reefs route for certified divers. The headline sites earn their reputation. At Abu Nuhas, a reef that has claimed several ships, you dive wrecks like the Giannis D and the Carnatic, now grown over with coral and busy with fish. The SS Thistlegorm, a British WWII cargo ship sunk in 1941, still holds its cargo of motorcycles, trucks and rifles in the holds – one of the great wreck dives anywhere. You also dive the protected walls and channels of Ras Mohammed and the current-swept reefs of the Straits of Tiran. Days usually bring three or four dives, including a night dive, guided by the crew and diving with a buddy. Full board, tanks and weights, and guiding are included; you bring or rent the rest of your kit. It suits confident, certified divers who want quantity and quality without the daily commute back to shore.
