Overview

You will begin in Luxor with a private qualified Egyptologist as your guide on the Valley of the Artisans tour. Accompanied by your guide, you will visit the ancient Egyptian tombs at the Valley of the Artisans (Deir el‑Medina). There you will explore tombs cut into the rock and see very colourful wall paintings dating to the 18th Dynasty of the New Kingdom. As you move through the area, you will also visit the tombs of Deir el‑Medina, an important site on Luxor’s west bank, and learn about the daily life and burial practices of the artisans who lived there. The tour will include a visit to the mortuary temple of Ramses III, Medinet Habu, where you can observe its monumental architecture and reliefs. Throughout the visit your Egyptologist guide will put the monuments and paintings into historical context so you gain a clear sense of their significance.
