Overview

On this trip to El Fayoum oasis, your tour guide will collect you from your hotel and take you into the region once known as a cult centre for the crocodile god Sobek. You will visit the Tunisian Village, where you will have a special breakfast and see local pottery being made. Later you will travel by 4x4 jeep to Qaron’s Lake, an ancient natural lake where you will watch the striking sight of winter-migrating birds around the water. As you move through the area you will explore Wadi AL-Ryan and the nearby Mudawara Mountain, a dramatic rock formation rather than a typical peak. You will also visit the valley of the whales to see fossilised whale remains that date back about 200 million years.
