Overview

You will drive from Cairo to St. Catherine, arriving in the afternoon to settle in before an early start. In the small hours you will wake and hike the mountain in darkness so you can reach the summit in time for sunrise. From the top you will watch the sun come up over the surrounding landscape, then descend toward the valley below. After the descent you will visit one of Christianity’s oldest monasteries at St. Catherine, which was built around the site of the Burning Bush. As you move through the monastery grounds you will see its ancient architecture and the location associated with that biblical event. Following your visit you will have breakfast and then return to Cairo.
