Overview
You will visit the Giza Plateau to see the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops), the pyramid of Khafre (Kaphren/Khaphren) and the pyramid of Menkaure (Mankawra/Mykerinus). Along the way you will view the remains of King Khafre’s funeral temple, then move on to the Great Sphinx and the nearby Valley Temple. After exploring these ancient monuments, you will have lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon you will visit the Egyptian Museum, which is home to an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities and dates back some 5,000 years of art. The museum is considered to hold the largest and most precious collection of Egyptian art in the world, with over 250,000 genuine artefacts presented and a representative amount on display while the remainder is kept in storerooms. You will see thousands of Pharaonic pieces, including the golden treasures of King Tutankhamen, and a range of exhibits such as manuscripts, statues of deities, mummies and mummy portraits, unfinished sculptures, statuettes and vases. The tour finishes with a return to Alexandria.
