Overview

Dahab is one of the best places in the world to learn to dive, and this multi-day PADI Open Water course makes use of exactly why: warm, clear, calm water you can walk into straight from the shore, with almost no current for your first breaths underwater. The course follows the standard PADI structure. You cover the theory in short sessions, then practise the core skills in confined water in a sheltered lagoon or the shallows off the Lighthouse, where you can always stand up if you need to. Once you are comfortable, you move to open-water training dives at Dahab's gentle house reefs – sites like the Lighthouse and Eel Garden, where the coral starts a few metres from the beach and the fish life is immediate. Over the days you build up to the qualifying dives that earn the certification, going to the recommended depths with your instructor beside you. Groups are kept small, often one-to-one or close to it, so the pace matches how quickly you settle in. Equipment is provided throughout, along with hotel pickup and drop-off within Dahab. You finish as a certified diver, able to dive with a buddy anywhere in the world.
