Overview

This experience takes you to two of Cairo’s most historic areas. You will visit the Salah El Din Citadel, constructed in 1183 AD, and see the Mohamed Ali Mosque, which was built inside the castle in the 19th century. Along the way, you’ll move through the citadel complex and learn about the key landmarks it contains. You will also tour Old Cairo, the site of a city that pre-dated modern Cairo. Here you will explore streets and sites that include many historic churches and the remains of a Roman fort, gaining a sense of the area’s long and layered history as you move between these ancient places.
