Memphis,Sakkara and Dahshur
A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.
Overview
You will explore some of Egypt’s earliest monuments, beginning at Saqqara with the Step Pyramid complex built to celebrate King Zoser, founder of the Third Dynasty (about 2700 BC). The complex was established by Imhotep, described here as the first architect in human history, and Saqqara is considered the site of the oldest stone building in history. As you move through the necropolis, you will also visit the tomb of Kagemni (about 2600 BC) and the pyramid of Teti, where you can see impressive ancient Pyramid Texts. Along the way you will visit Memphis, the old capital of Egypt, and travel to Dahshur to see the Red Pyramid, often known as the “first pyramid.” You will also see the Great Sphinx and hear the related stories and historical context from your professional guide. The guide will provide information about the history and significance of each site as you explore.
