Overview

You will drive to Luxor to see Egypt’s “open-air museum”, arriving on the east bank of the Nile where the city’s great temple complexes lie. On this side you will see Luxor Temple and Karnak, two of the most important archaeological sites in the area. Along the way you can take time to walk among the monuments and get a sense of why the city is often described as an open-air museum. You will stay in Luxor overnight. The next day you will cross to the west bank to visit Hatshepsut Temple, the Valley of the Kings and the Colossi of Memnon. These west-bank sites highlight the funerary and royal architecture of ancient Egypt and offer a contrast to the temples on the east bank. After your visits you will head back to Marsa Alam.
