Overview

This experience takes you through some of Luxor’s most famous ancient sites, starting on the West Bank of the Nile. Your visit begins at the Valley of the Kings, the burial ground of pharaohs and the site associated with Tutankhamun. You will then see the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari, a striking mortuary temple dedicated to one of Egypt’s few female pharaohs. Along the way you will stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two towering statues that once flanked the entrance to Amenhotep III’s mortuary complex. After these West Bank highlights, you will have lunch and then continue to the East Bank. The programme is completed with visits to the Karnak Temples and Luxor Temple, where monumental pylons, columns and reliefs reveal the scale of ancient Egyptian religious life. Throughout the day you will move between imposing tombs, temples and statues, gaining a rounded sense of the art, architecture and burial practices of this remarkable civilisation.
