Half-Day Philae Temple Tour in Aswan with Hotel Pickup

You will visit the Philae Temple, built in honour of the goddess Isis, who was the island's chief deity. As you move through the site, you will see the temple complex that once stood beside the Nile’s First Cataract and learn about its religious importance in Upper Egypt. The tour also explains the temple’s modern history. The rapids and surrounding area were affected after the Aswan Low Dam was built in 1902, and the complex was later dismantled and moved to nearby Agilkia Island as part of the UNESCO Nubia Campaign. That relocation helped protect Philae and other monuments ahead of the 1970 completion of the Aswan High Dam. After your visit, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Aswan.
